I had it yesterday at a Chinese Restaurant and its YUMMY!
I wonder if I can buy it in the grocery store. I live in NJ.
OR a recipe would work too!
THANKS!|||A home-made ice cream that doesn%26#039;t require an ice cream maker. The light taste of green tea offsets the richness of the eggs and heavy cream. You could try this recipe with black tea for a bolder taste.
INGREDIENTS:
3 tbs green tea leaves (whole)
1 cup heavy cream
2 cups cold milk
2 egg yolks
1 tbs cornstarch
1 cup sugar
PREPARATION:
In a saucepan, heat milk slowly to boiling. Then add green tea leaves and cover. Let steep (simmer) for about 15 minutes. Meanwhile, in a mixing bowl, beat egg yolks with sugar and cornstarch. Remove milk from heat and strain out the tea leaves.
Whisk in egg mixture, whisking constantly to keep the eggs from cooking in the hot milk. When mixture is starting to thicken, transfer to a larger bowl and allow to cool. Then stir in the heavy cream. Freeze mixture for at least 2 hours before serving.|||I love green tea ice cream. There is one Japanese restaurant here in New Orleans that uses green tea ice cream for a fried ice cream dessert; this is the most fantastic use of ice cream ever.
You may want to look for green tea ice cream in any Asian grocery stores in your area. Specialty stores may also have it. Get out the phone book and start calling around.|||HELL YEA!!! My favorite !!!|||Yes. And it was horrible. It was, however, a victim of freezer burn; so did not really smell or look that good, either.|||Never heard of Green Tea Ice cream|||YUCKYYY!! when i was younger we were out at a Japanese place and they and it and it was just absolutely horrid to me. but that is just my opinion.|||Yes.
